Grouping things in the home as living and non-living.
All the things that we can see, hear, taste, smell, and touch are part of our environment. These things can be grouped as living and non living. This lesson will help students explore the important differences between the two. The term living things refers to things that are now or once were alive. In order for something to be classified as living it must grow and develop, reproduce, move, breathe, respond to its environment and adapt, excrete and feed for example animals, plants and human beings. Nonliving things cannot move, breathe, excrete nor reproduce it therfore means they are not alive for example paper, stones etc.
While many things meet one or more of thse criteria, a living thing must meet all of the criteria. Living and non living things interact with each other all the time.
